Oh how I would love to go to the beach (someplace warm – or hot) and toast marshmallows! But I have to work. Drat!
And the back-to-school madness is reaching a peak from all those last-minute shoppers who want to know why we’re out of Ticondaroga pencils (some schools specify that brand on their school lists) or why we’re out of glue sticks or folders or spiral notebooks – the ones we have on sale for 50 cents – or whatever else they need. By the end of the day, I sort of feel like I’m a toasted marshmallow. :)
To Bbear from yesterday’s comments – You shouldn’t feel bad about trying to do everything you could for Tabby before deciding it was time to let him go. I remember a cat I had years ago. His name was Pest – named because he was always underfoot making a pest of himself. Just the sweetest cat you’d ever want to meet. He got very sick once and I think he believed he was going to die. I had a vet appointment for him and I was nearly late for that appointment because I couldn’t find him. I found him hiding way back under a bed. He was never one to hide like that. He was very sick and had to stay at the vet for a few days. He was refusing food. The vet couldn’t get him to eat either. But I went to visit Pest at the vet each day and I fed him baby food and whatever else I could, feeding him with my fingers and I got him to start eating again. I don’t remember how old he was then, but he was just too young to die and I was going to do everything in my power to get him to eat. One day, the vet even let me stay past closing time so I could be with Pest, since I had him eating that day. Pest recovered and lived several more years before dying of kidney failure in 1999 at age 16. But I don’t think he would have recovered if I had not taken steps to make him eat and to let him know how much I loved him. I know Tabby knew how much you loved him. too.
Just want to say I really really love hearing about all the wildlife sightings from everyone. So nice that so many are kind to our Little Cousins. Peace to you all!
Jack and Chesney are cats for all seasons. Too bad they’re at the dog park though. They’re obviously up to no good! On another note, saw a dragonfly yesterday.

Is their quiet reverie about to be interrupted by dogs chasing an errant frisbee or, should I say “disc” ?

UPDATE: I am still sleeping well at night. Food just doesn’t taste right. I think that it is the meds.

At the moment, Kiki is sitting in her chair at the dining room window making funny noses at a couple of crows.
First time i’ve heard her doing that.
