Nobody seems to celebrate Columbus Day any more.
December 21: the shortest, darkest, dreariest day of the year. And then winter begins — Nature’s nastiest trick. (Besides Death.)
(Australians’ mileage may differ.)
Don’t skip ahead.
I saw my first Christmas commercial yesterday.
I saw mine in 1955
Then isn’t it time to dye her hair orange?
Oh, ok. After New Years? Then, death?
Actually, soon it will be Thanksgiving, then Hallowe’en, then Christmas.
On the north side of the 49th parallel we celebrate Thanksgiving at harvest time – mid-October), not mid-winter, so it always comes before Hallowe’en :)
We seem to be forgetting Veterans Day (in the USA) as well (Nov. 11).
Road trip to TX for a week for hometown’s Vet Day weekend celebration, with my best gal pal from the Nav. It’s fun being/getting old!
