When I was a heat treater one of our customers was a foundry that, among other things, cast anvils. We sometimes did small batches by hand. We’d pull them out of a 1600 degree furnace with a hook and put them into a nearby water tank to harden them. They weighed around 80 pounds. I got a lot of exercise working there.
