I know it’s a comic, and the kids are simplified for laughs, but I’ve always been disappointed at how shallow Luann was portrayed in 8th grade. My friends and I at that age were very aware of current events and the political situation (which was quite volatile at the time). Eighth graders are a lot more complex and have a lot more facets that older people may remember or realize.
I read thirty or forty articles a day. You get to know sources pretty well and can skim for new facts. One English tabloid ran an “asteroid about to strike Earth” story ten weeks in a row. I’m beginning to think I would be better off reading a well-respected newspaper online, rather than trusting Google News to block such stupid articles.
