Ours never hid under our beds as they were too low to the ground. They resided in the furnace room and would kick on with a roar to alert us to hide under the covers!
Way back when I delivered furniture, when I assembled kids’ bed sets I would warn them that if they bugged me, I would add an EXTRA set of Mattress Monsters to the suite. But if they behaved, the Monsters would get lost in the shuffle, and go out with the packaging trash.

I hate it when dust balls become sentient.

Plot twist: Calvin really does have little talking sentient dust balls beneath his bed.
There was an earlier strip where Calvin found a gigantic dust ball that he showed to his dad. I wonder if these are that dust ball’s babies.

good luck, Calvin, of being able to not just retrieve the vacuum, but also being able to use it without waking your parents

Actually they’re just “Monsters, Inc” monsters, Calvin. They need your screams to power their city.;-D

Calvin, you’re talking to dust balls AND breaking the fourth wall.

Calvin, go get the vacuum cleaner and suck them up, that should take care of them.

If you go under the bed Calvin, then there WILL be a monster.

Wow I thought this was a family strip. I think dust bunnies would have be more appropriate.

It could be Calvin’s discarded dinner (prior strip had a “sword” fight between the two of them).

Actually, I’d rather have monsters. Dust bunnies are terrifying!

That’s why we need to teach little boys to vacuum…to protect themselves from dust bunnies under the bed.

It’s probably Hobbes, he likes to pounce on Calvin all the time.
