I find it interesting that “quicksand” is still considered dangerous— you can float better in “quicksand” than in salt water, and the standard drill for discovery your feet are beginning to sink into the sand is to toss any pack or bag rearward, to solid ground, then spread your arms and fall backward. It is really not difficult, just don’t try to stay standing, go horizontal.
