They are also used in a LOT of movie previews. and btw… every time I hear one of those disclaimers I think “I’ve already got those, what do I need the drug for?”…not to mention ½ the time I can’t figure out what the drug is supposed to treat.
For some reason this made me think of one of the most idiotic quotes I ever heard, imo, especially by a musician, Michael Stipe: “The Beatles were elevator music in my lifetime.” He should wish his music made a fraction of an impact on the world. He then went on to say, “Yummy Yummy Yummy (I’ve Got Love in My Tummy)” had more impact on me.” Wow, what a drag that must have been!
I hate when they use an old song – and have some less popular cover version – those are the cheap-os. Sometimes, I just wish it was advertising a ‘better’ product, when we get the original hit. Better than the rap music though, I can stomach almost anything else.
A lot of pluggers on here mention elevator music. My personal fave is a resemblance to Aerosmith/“Love In An Elevator”. It’s a nice, calm, but sexy-ish “voice” in (one of) the local-medical centers’ elevator system. Push the floor/level button, hear “DING!” “Going-DOWN!”
The wife and I have caused many an eyebrow—and/or look of apprehension!—when those doors close, and we both-say in a just-over-normal indoor voice: “AEROSMITH!!!” I’ll generally add somethin’ like, “Yeah!!! Fricken’-A!!!”, and then she does a short-shuffle! But usually there is at least one-true-blooded rocker in the bunch, who probably learned the tune from mom an’ dad, at age-four or so, and will respond with a short, but hardy, laugh with us…!☺

Actually, I thought being a Plugger involved more than just being in a certain age group. I thought it encompassed a mindset and lifestyle as well.

With all the listed side effects why take any of that stuff ? 5 years later the lawyers are suing because of the side effects. That’s job security !

Maybe a car commercial would be better.

The advertisers are hoping you’ll associate whatever nostrum they’re pushing with feeling as young and peppy as you did when that song was popular.

Like you have to tell a plugger cat to go his own way-y-y.
