Reminds me of an employee performance report: “Sets low standards for himself and fails to attain them.”

I have very low expectations of some people and yet they still amaze me with the depths that they can reach.

How appropriate for some these days. . .just finished reading a book of short stories titled “Florida” for our bookclub. A sorrier bunch of grotesqueries and bizarros I’ve seldom met. Guess their expectations, as well as the writer’s, were lower than Auntie’s.

Those who hope for nothing will not be disappointed.

Perhaps Aunty has joined a 12-step group – her penchant for wine would qualify her for AA! Low expectations is one of the “suggestions” heard in meetings. I borrowed it because the expectations I have for myself are too high – it helps me stay grounded.
