I almost dislocated my right arm with one of those when I hit a curb taking a turn in my late father’s thoroughly manual-everything van.
The steering wheel spun back violently in the opposite direction of my turn along with my wrist and elbow. That everything stayed in their respective sockets is miraculous.
Now, it DID help in steering up the apartment driveway and into a parking spot with my un-traumatized left arm.
As it was, some bruising but no lasting effect beyond an extended owie.
If I had ever had a Brodie Knob, which I haven’t, I might say it’s not so old and worn, but that’s just a hypothetical Brodie Knob and has little to do with reality. —Which, it seems to me, makes it ideally suited (ideally; see what I did there?) for Frog Applause. But I digress, as digress we must de rigueur here….
It’s beginning to look a lot like a Brodie Thanksgiving … so, to all you Lamers out there, Happy Hob-knobing to ya … travel safe and cut your brodies thin because there’s a lot of forks down the road …!

Could have used one of those when my arm was broken, except I still couldn’t work the manual transmission.

Brodie knob? Nothing I’ve heard of before. I barely know what a doorknob is.

I put a Brodie knob on the steering wheel of my ’63 Ranchero. It had no power steering, and it made turns ever so much easier.

It’s good for keeping a hand on her knee while driving. Also good if you’d like to be lying in the same hospital room with her after the crash.
