“Nessun Dorma” reduces me to tears every time I hear it. I have no idea what the words mean, but it kills me every time. Especially watching and hearing Pavarotti singing it.
Damn Opera singers. Just a bunch of fat people prancing around a stage. Bellowing out at the top of their lungs. Singing in a language I do not understand. It was invented while Mozart was alive. Why can’t we get past it? Remember this, Classical Music is a dead end. It does not and has not influenced any other music.
Anyone who enjoys Pavarotti’s singing should find and see the recent film, PAVAROTTI. It follows his career and contains numerous performances that will rock your socks off, as the kids say.

Andy Dufresne would approve, I think…

(Though for my money, the absolute height of modern culture might be “The Blues Brothers”.)

I can just see Pavarotti somewhere giving the “anguished comic-strip face”.

Opera: A fat man in a tight suit standing on a big stage screaming at you in Italian.

Louie’s hearing is by far more sensitive than any human.
