Saw my first mistletoe hanging on a tree in Germany. (I agree with Arlo.)

Outdoor mistletoe growing on a tree does indeed count… as a sign you need to call an arborist to get rid of the parasitic infestation that could kill your tree if left to do it’s thing long enough.

I think it’s a win-win situation, Janis gets the kiss and mistletoe lives another day.

There were some clusters up in the trees in Fairfax County. Its actually a parasite I’m told and protected.

Jimmy Johnson must be given artistic license for his location of the mistletoe. It is a parasite that grows on the thicker limbs of a tree. In the long term it weakens the limb where it can snap off at the location the mistletoe is growing.

Until the breakup of AT&T I had five acres by Lake Oroville, filled with oak trees which were filled with mistletoe. My kids would bag it and sell it around the holidays for Christmas money. Did pretty well, too. “Good old days”…
