So what, leave the evil witch to enslave everyone? At least in Narnia you know you have god on your side, or at least a talking lion with delusions of grandeur.
Actually, the Scarecrow’s reign as king was unstable and short-lived. L. Frank Baum’s Oz books were often criticized for ridiculing government and the military, and making men look weak and foolish.
According to the books, the Scarecrow was overthrown by General Jinjur and her army of bored-girls-who-wanted-to-get-out-from-under-their-mothers. He ran to Glinda for aid, and she conquered Jinjur with her own well-trained all-girl army, but not with an eye toward getting the Scarecrow back on the throne. Glinda was seeking the lost rightful heir, Princess Ozma. Glinda succeeded after the capture of the witch Mombi, and Ozma was returned. Between Ozma and Glinda, Oz was finally under efficient rule, though not without lingering enemies and rogues- not least being the pompous, short tempered Nome King.
Ya know, if you cue up Dark Side of the Moon to one of Trump’s campaign speeches, you can actually see Steve Mnuchin hanging from a rope in the background.

Dorothy promised there would be ONLY regime change and no nation building whatsoever.
And then she clicked her deep red slippers and was immediately back home in Crawford Ranch.
The only reminder was a gigantic MISSION ACCOMPLISHED banner.

More realistic metaphor to frame current affairs would have Dot and pooch heading into the portal in the back yard with the crescent moon on its door.

The big difference is that Dorothy’s actions were wholly altruistic.
