Funny, I was just thinking about those very lyrics yesterday, coming to the same conclusion.

Nah, a new roll of bubble wrap. And a roll of duct tape.

Probably at Ace Hardware or Home Depot.

Sounds like we have a future B&D fan in the making.

Those shops used to line the old “Minnesota Strip” along Manhattan’s Eighth Avenue. >;-D

The best and most used kid gifts I’ve ever given came from the hardware store. Fifty feet of stout rope was immensely popular. Of course, that’s been a while, back when kids actually knew how to play, how to make up a scenario that wasn’t scripted by Hollywood and specially equipped by licensed toy makers and play it out however their imaginations took them. I haven’t seen kids play like that in a while. Sadly, today, a stick is just a stick.

Who’s going to tell her what’s in the girl’s stocking? I get the feeling that she’s the sort who won’t care too much for “a dolly that laughs and cries/One that can open and shut her eyes”!

What – no chain saws or arc welders?

What gets me in that song was the “reindeer paws.” I always thought they had hooves. &8-{)

Now, if I wanted to play into a severe stereotype, I’d say “best presents ever” would be something the boy would say.
