My wife and I once owned a business. We had two not-so-silent partners: the Federal Government and the State Government.
I’ve owned a small business since 1989….trying to retire But the cost of ownership has become overwhelming, fees, rent, product, licenses, OY!
Some how I doubt you’d pay less for protection if you went with private contractors. And the government doesn’t come asking for “favors”. Or didn’t used to ask so blatantly

I tell people I am the CEO of a power company.
