I miss the days when you could fix a voltage regulator (basically it controls whether the battery is charging or not – and there even was a gauge that told ya if it was charging or discharging!) by taking a cover off, stretching or compressing a spring, and putting the cover back on. Now it’s part of the alternator on most vee-hick-les so you replace the whole shebang for several hundred bucks. Ah, progress. And ask a mechanic why they just love those Northstar V8’s that need a new starter (hint: it’s not on the bottom of the engine. Bigger hint: look under the intake manifold – https://youtu.be/KBtpFmY41eU and you thought I was makin’ this stuff up, dintcha?).
This is a male plugger issue for the most part, because female pluggers don’t give much heed, at least for a while anyways and then they relay the problem to a male relative.
Nice engine hum, registration paid up, new tires, brakes good, last repair excellent DIY job, and no payments. Auto heaven. I pity the people that lease, extend, lease again. They are driving on the turnpike to the poor-house.

A real pluggers truck is old enough not to need warning lights.
