Coffee gets started before the dog is taken out at my place. That way by the time I’m back it’s ready and so am I. After that it’s onto email and Go Comics. BTW it doesn’t snow much around here (PNW). Love snow if someone else shovels the walks and driveway.
Funny, I have one cup in the morning and rarely a second all day. Sometimes I don’t even finish the first. It’s hard to relate to others who grab a coffee at every opportunity.
Had a good friend whose doctor said to stop drinking coffee since his blood pressure was out of control and he did not take meds regularly. So he pointed out to me that he did stop coffee and had replaced it with a handful of no-doz tables several times a day. One morning as he was dressing he failed to respond to a question from his wife, She went in to see why and there he was, seated, one sock on and the other half on, slouched against a window quite dead.
When it snowed back when husband went to work I would get up & do everything in house that had not a chance to do. Now, he is home all the time & over the decades has become weather phobic & we are up early as he looks out at the snow or the snow falling & panics we will not be able to leave the house until spring. Used to get storms that would drop maybe a foot of snow if it was a very big storm, 3 times a season at most. Now have had winters where storms drop 18-24 inches every other day for more than a week. Had one storm two years ago that was up to my waist & all of the news channels said would all freeze overnight & it needed to be cleared right away as it was light and fluffy. It was also horribly cold. We used to be able to pay a gardener to come and clear the snow, but once these large storms started, they also say – commercial only. So, more snow, no help, and we are getting older (mid 60s) and both are not in the best of health. For the first time every he agreed (after much persuading) to let me take over running the snow blower. But when I suggested a break to warm up, he refused. I finally had to go in as I had never felt my toes as frozen as they were – or rather did not feel my toes at all. Worst part of clearing the snow is that we have a circular driveway so there are two cuts to clear and we live on a 4 lane main road – so we have 3 lanes of snow (2 and parking) plowed into those cuts. Lately the neighbor to the left has a tenant (illegal) and there is a car or truck parked in front of their house, so we only get 2 lanes of snow tossed into one of the cuts, but we have to clear the parking lane in front of that cut also to get to the roadway.
Worst of all is snow does not melt at our house. All of the houses will have had their snow melt and disappear, but we will still have snow. A couple of weeks ago we had the proverbial trace to an inch of snow. We went out after noon, everyone else was clear, our drive/steps covered in snow!
