I live in Sligo Ireland under a mountain called Ben Bulben. When my nieces and nephew were little and still believed in Santa we were leaving the house one Christmas morning at around 7 am so we could open our presents with them. When we were coming out of the driveway a group of 30 somethings drove up outside our house and asked us what was the best way to climb the mountain. They were all dressed in formal party clothes the women in thin silk dresses and high heels and they were all drunk even the driver. It was freezing out about -4 or 5 C and pitch dark . Not even the experienced farmers who worked the land across the mountain would climb it in those conditions. My dad just told them how dangerous it would be to even try they said that they would still give it a go. I lied to them saying that the main accesses to the mountain were gated and that the gates were locked until after Christmas by the farmers who owned the land around there. It wasn’t but it was the only way we could get them to turn around and go home. Some people really have no common sense.
I read an article about a man dressed like that. He had intended to end his life by freezing to death. A hiker happened to find him and managed to foil his plan.
Not too long ago, here (in Oregon) there was a segment in a radio news program wherein the reporter was taking to a state trooper, who said (apropos of “rescue” operations) “You’d be amazed at how many people hop into the car and drive off into a blizzard wearing a T-shirt, shorts, and flip-flops”. His very words.
Here the problem is heat. We have people hicke up our in city mountains in flip flops, tank tops. They have no water and suffer a bad sunburn. Worse yet they take their dogs! every year we have a few dogs die while “hiking” with their owners. So we passed a law that no dogs are allowed on the trails when the temperature reaches or is predicted to reach 100F.

And the rescue dog should get a big bowl of kibble for finding that idiot.

It will be told in an entirely different way when he recounts it to his friends at the bar.

Maybe he was Canadian. It could have just been like a balmy summer day to him then.

Mount McNasty almost claims another victim once again who was spared by the heroic efforts once again of rescue dogs!

I see guys out walking around in the cold all the time. They’re always either young or overweight.

And this is what happens when you’re raised with no consequences.

hopefully they presented him with the bill for the rescue services. People need to take responsibilities for their actions.
