Donā€™t they have the National Geographic (NatGeo) channel? Oh, I forgot ā€” Dad says not having cable builds character.

Either way, Calvin will learn something. Itā€™s all educational!

I know others have pointed it out, but I still love how that little teeny TV (even for mid-80s standards) is so ā€œactiveā€ that it literally leaps into the air while showing a TV broadcastā€¦ :-P

There should have been a strip, where Hobbs told Calvin about something that happened at the house while he was away at school. When he mentions it to the parents they could have looked puzzled/scared and turned to stare at Hobbs

Too bad he hasnā€™t learned to multi task. Todayā€™s school kids can watch tv, listen to music, check texts, update Facebook AND read the their school assignments all at the time.

My father established strict controls on TV time ā€“ with a loophole that ā€œeducational programmingā€ didnā€™t count.

Most of what was on NPR was deemed ā€œeducationalā€.

I watched a LOT of nature documentaries as a kid.

Not true, Hobbes. Iā€™ve seen you enjoy ā€œLooney Tunes.ā€ Or did you take that as a nature documentary?
