Could Okamoto-san still be incarcerated and — if Japanese jails also do it — was he NOT allowed his one phone call?

24,000 complaints in, let’s say, 30 months is 800 per month, or 25–30 a day, every day. Sounds like he made it his full-time job for 2½ years.

Whenever I see a deep cave (or canyon), I always wonder how many Empire State buildings would fit in it.

is there a rope long enough to climb down to the bottom?

Mr. Okamoto would have had to call the phone company 24 times a day, 7 days a week to wrack up that many complaints.

Still if he was complaining about T mobile service he would have been below the average number of complaints

    • Deepest cave “discovered”, I believe they meant to say.

    • 7257 Feet is almost exactly 2212 meters, so I suspect the actual measurement is in meters.

    • I wonder how they got that accurate of a measurement.

I’m surprised the Russians didn’t see the cave as an ideal, premade dump for their nuclear waste.

To fill it with water would take how many Olympic sized swimming pools?

And yet the cave weighs less than a fully loaded 747.

I’m guessing the phone company is owned by a government official. Or maybe the phone company owns the government.

It’s against the law to complain about phone service in Japan?

Gee, wouldn’t the phone company find it simpler just to address his concerns? Apparently Japanese phone companies are much like ours.

I looked up Mr. Okamoto’s story. He averaged 33 calls a day, some of which were hang up calls. He’d be insulting, and would demand that the staff come to his house to apologize to him for violating his contract. The problem? His phone didn’t pick up the radio broadcasts he wanted!

In Japan, if you make it impossible to conduct normal business you can be arrested for fraudulent obstruction of business. (I can understand having such a law.) I’d say they were quite patient for waiting 2 years before pressing charges! Frankly, I don’t blame them.

We once had some robins nesting by our patio. A few hours after the young fledged & they all flew away a pair of house finches settled into the nest. Reduce, reuse, recycle, right?

heh, I was making up some jokes about bird Air BnBs for the owl fact, when I read about an old man who got arrested for basically using a complaint department as a substitute for human contact. You know that guy didn’t have a good relationship with his family…

Then Okamoto got hired by the fictitious company “Card Member Services” to randomly call people and tell them that it was their last warning before their credit card rates went up.
