I never cared to let go of anyone. Any occasion the Lord seems to change his calendar he planned the scenario in advance. Many people seem unreasonable while wrestling unseen with this fact.
One might blithely express such cold sentiment now, as Bliss has, but the reality of the loss of a loved one, even one who has been a burden, doesn’t always bring what you think it might.
One of the emotions I felt when my mom died was relief. I had the responsibility for her and it was tiring. Of course, there was the grief and that was the primary emotion. But relief and then the guilt about the relief played a part. Dealing with death is complicated
That’s years of care-giving talking but — (gulp) is the kid now at the top of the list of ‘things’ to be taken care of? That said, I greatly respect Bliss’s willingness and ability to explore complex emotions.

However today some people are so covered up with little things that don’t really matter, they can’t handle things that do matter.

I can see it. It’s healing to admit but society frowns on any admission of relief. Even if it’s after years of taking care of Dementia Dad.
