In almost every Catholic Church I’ve been in (and others, too, now that I think about it), women keep the place running. Even at the altar, the priest is often the only male. Everyone else – the reader, the altar server, the cantor, the Eucharistic Minister – is a woman.

Most churches run on Girl Power. In my church, 80% of the volunteers are women.
Our church also runs on Gray Power and Gay Power.
One of our vestry members is an older lesbian. She kind of fills all three slots.
