The tinting depends on the state. In a little enforced rule, there are limits to how dark you can make a window in my state, but nothing about back seats only.
You know those Plexiglas partitions that go between the front and back seats of old-style taxicabs? The companies that make them must be getting nervous as Über and Lyft and other gig rides cut into the market share with either more confidence in their fellow man, a higher tolerance for risk or more freedom to avoid picking up fares they’re not so sure about. And buying fewer bulletproof partitions.
If they’re looking to retool and build a similar, but future proof, product, I suggest something the same size to go in the same location, but more of a swinging flap like you often see on public trash receptacles. The slovenly driver won’t be replaced by Über Mess, and is not going away.

Have you seen the condition library books get into after a couple of years? I wouldn’t want a car in that condition, no matter the price.

Some libraries lend ties, briefcases, and handbags, so young people can look proper for job interviews. Not a bad idea.
