I do now. I am registered as an independent voter. I sometimes feel like Poland in WW II, caught between the Nazis and the Red Army. No matter which side wins, I lose.
However, I also draw wisdom from history. I figure if Roosevelt and Churchill can side with Stalin against Hitler, I can side with the Democrats against Trump.
Will “Despise them!” work? I was just telling Elizabeth Warren the other day, (OK, I was yelling at my television. Same thing.) to remember that she has to work with these same people after the election. If politicians, as a group, can ignore the vitriol spewed during an election cycle, and treat it as “Just part of the process”, they they are all too far gone.
Sadly, if EVERYONE did this it would probably be better than the current division which the Russians are feeding.
Of course, the BEST thing would be if people went by independent fact checkers like Fact Check and Politifact as well as news sources that verify instead of online crap and passed rumors, and just realized that politicians are also only human (far from perfect with some worse than others), so select according to the ACTIONS THAT ARE VERIFIED BY TRUSTWORTHY SOURCES, rather than lying braggadocio and scare/hate tactics.
