The last politician that spoke the truth was Walter Mondale during a debate against Ronald Reagan. He said that the difference between him and his opponent was he won’t tell you he would raise taxes while he just did. I think that now it’s a required course in college for potential politicians in the art of ear tickling.
A good many of those comments apply to both(or should I say all) political parties. Too many politicians are in government “service” only to line their own pockets with the least amount of effort.
