when my nephew was a month old (he was born on U.S. Thanksgiving Day, 22 November 2018), he was sound asleep in my arms during the Christmas church service
My boys and both grandbabies were VERY sensitive when putting down in the crib – they all woke up immediately. They were able to feel being “dropped.” I had to really bend over the crib so I didn’t have to “drop” the baby but gently roll down toward the mattress where they eased into gradually. I babysat q number of babies and most of them were too zonked out to feel being “dropped” so I was not as cautious about easing the baby into the crib which was so nice. Was not so lucky with my own.
I loved feeding my babies in rocking chairs. It establishes that rocking motion while they are feeding and many times put the baby right to sleep right after they fed (the ideal situation).
OMG brings back memories of taking care of my brother….changing his diaper, giving him a bath and putting PJs on after having fed him and giving him his bottle and rocking him to sleep. My mom was exhausted after she got out of the hospital but he was the last one for her.

Congratulations Anne. I think you are the first person actually to help Elly with her baby since she was born.

I remember that song from my mother. Something about baby crashing down from the treetops just seems wrong.

Of course being up at 3 AM in the morning may have helped.

Ever really think about the lyrics to that lullaby? Dropping a baby from the top of a tree? Really? Sure would like to know the history of that one.
