While I’m generally on board with developments here in the Alley, it still staggers the imagination that even those most disenfranchised in the present day and age would still attempt to categorize individuals by some sort of arbitrary national identity. That’s like saying the millions of a given nation all march in collective lockstep with one another, with no traces of individuality in terms of thought, expression or perspective (which might be true in North Korea, although I’m sure those involved would opt for a different route if given the choice). Pretty tough to dialogue with someone who does so. They have you categorized and stereotyped before you say as much as one word.
