Actual meetings are never that simple. And the very best (theoretically possible) meetings are about one thing. And short. Best manager I ever had insisted on a stand-up meeting every single morning. Everybody got 30 seconds to say what they did yesterday and planned for today. No questions, no elucidation, no diversions. The only acceptable comments were either “Oh, good” or equivalent, or something like “Please find me before lunch to talk about that.”

Everybody in our team knew the manager’s spiel by rote; we could almost lip-synch each word!!

Bob has a black belt in origami.

Why are you origami shaming? ; )

“One, to praise Bob’s recent closing of the Origami Paper Co. account – oh.”

first, the company is to fold…

Bob won the lottery last night.

Looks like a lot more than two folds now.

Still, that’s a pretty good crane there, Bob. You’ve been practicing.

Yet, there are 10 points of discussion for each of those two objectives!

Origami …..not a point of discussion today, BOB! Get back in the fold….

Bob then proceeded to make a duplicate swan.

Some people are “too” literal.

I wish the contents of comments at this site were limited.

Oh c’mon! He’s just trying to make the most out of this complete waste of time.
