Only thing I dug up in our backyard was our vegetable garden we had in back of our very large hedge, which my dad and I put an opening in to get to our garden. MMM yummy veggies and other goodies. My favorite veggie were the scallions….mmm love those and still do but my digestive system doesn’t anymore boo hoo!
I find “treasure” near my 120 year old house every time I dig. Old marbles (a lot), old toys, metal items, and coal, lots of coal for the old octopus furnace.
“You were just digging in the wrong place.” With my little brother…..I’d let him dig. Then watch as dad blows up as he sees all those holes in his beautiful manicured yard……….having a good laugh to myself.
The previous owners of my rural house apparently didn’t want to pay for garbage service, so I found stuff buried in the back, back yard. There’s also the way back yard, but considering how overgrown it was I doubt they ever went that far.
Reminded of a Donald Duck comic book story in which he tricked Huey, Dewey, and Louie into digging his garden by getting them interested in pirates, then leaving a treasure map for them to find. Then one of the boys overheard him bragging about it to Daisy, so they borrowed some doubloons from Uncle Scrooge to make Donald think the treasure was real after all. The hole he dug was big and deep enough to make them a swimming pool (to make it up to them for trying to trick them).

Toby is just imparting the wisdom he received from Larry (Dad) when he was treasure hunting.
Carry on, Eddie, and have a grand time. Just blame the holes on Dogzilla.

Are those swim goggles, or those you wear while riding in a motorcycle sidecar (don’t know where Eddie would do that, though)?

He just saved his little brother from adventure, albeit a futile one. Good and meh.

I remember hunting for treasure even though I knew that there was no treasure. Imagine did the work.
