Another one of John and Elly’s things to do; take Michael to the opthamologist. Looks like it is time for some glasses just like John and Elizabeth, Squinty!

Yeah, the best Mothers day present my Dad and I could give to Mom was to give her a present and then do our chores. She didn’t want us to go away, she just wanted to relax but have everything get done anyway.

We ALL hope Fiona leaves REAL soon.

Give her a bottle of lavender bubble bath, a scented candle, and a bottle of white wine in a bucket of ice. Then, take the kids and disappear for at least 4 hours (bring home pizza).

Maybe that was her real mothers day gift? She is gone?

I always thought Mother’s Day and Father’s Day ended up being the same… On Mother’s Day, dads took the kids to give mothers a break, on Father’s Day dads take the kids to spend time with them (and mom gets a break).

What a mother role model! A mother who wants to get away from her kids on Mother’s Day. It just doesn’t sit right with me.

You made and raised them. Don’t feel too bad. Quite a few mothers wished they’d never started on children.

Hey John!! How about instead of having your wife diaper and bathe your baby on Mother’s Day, you pretend like you are a father and do that for her?

She’s got the right idea. We celebrate Labor Day by not laboring, so . . .

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom’s out there….and know you the most important person in your children’s lives whether or not they realize it yet….they will. You all deserve only the best on your very special day….Plus to the mom’s of furbabies…….this is a special day for you too cause without you the furry ones would be lost…..so be happy you have unconditional love from them.

At Michael’s age I was changing diapers with no fuss.

I like the Fiona arc….adds variety to the strip!! It’s something we can all relate to!!

I notice in this strip and in various others, that the characters either have long pauses in their conversations or do things at warp speed. Between John’s sentences in panels 5 & 6, Elly has filled a bathtub, taken off the baby’s clothes and is bathing her. Then by the time she answers John’s question, she’s dried the baby off and put her clothes back on. Pretty fast moves!
