I hate to have to say this so early in the comments and sorry I have to run off to bed right after posting my couple of comments because I have to go to bed soon, but I have sad news. Some of you have been following the story of my Lovebug. Well, Lovebug died a little over 2 hours ago. just before 10:30 Saturday night. I had a bad feeling yesterday morning because when I got up, I found her not in her cat bed like she normally would be, but on the floor instead – like she needed a cooler spot. Something told me not to even bother her with her pill, but I did dish up some canned cat food for her, though I was certain she wasn’t going to eat it. She didn’t. I put her back in her bed with her food dish. Still, I decided I would go to work for some overtime hours on my day off. Overtime pay is good and I really need the money. So I worked from 2:00 in the afternoon until about 7:45. I didn’t want to work late because I have an early shift today and I need to get up early. Anyway, after work and doing a little shopping, I got home at around 8:30. When I got home, she was on the floor again. She actually looked dead and I had to check her to see if she was alive. She was. So I put her back in her bed and I carried her, bed and all, into the living room so I could have her close to me as I watched TV. I was feeling sure this was going to be the end. Then, just before 10:30, she started having spasms and she was drooling a lot. Then suddenly, there was nothing. I checked for a heartbeat and there was none. She was gone.
Though my heart is broken, I can take comfort knowing she is free of suffering. RIP, my sweet little Lovebug. And I’m glad I was there for her, petting her as she took her last breath. I’m going to miss that little girl an awful lot.
National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day. Maybe I’ll make on of those when I get home from work tonight.
National Big Wind Day. I think it is supposed to be windy here today.
National Colorado Day
National Licorice Day
National For Twelves Day. I had to look that one up and here is part of what it said:
“On National For Twelves Day (4/12), the nation will honor a magnificent number that holds significance in several ways.
We measure our days in two 12 hour sets. When we buy roses, eggs, and pastries, we purchase them by the dozen. How many months are in a year? Twelve. Of course, math lovers appreciate 12 because it has a perfect number of divisors.
Sports fans remember all the great athletes in every sport who have worn that fabulous number. For example, Terry Bradshaw, John Stockton, Jim Kelly, Dwight Howard, and Joe Namath come to mind.
And football fans wear the number to represent themselves as the 12th member of their favorite team. These vital members of the football team support players on and off the field. Especially integral to the success of the players and the teams, the celebration focuses on the fans who inspire their teams to be at their best every day."
The Thunderbirds did a fly over to honor the Doctors and Nurses. They trailed blue smoke. All the neighbors were out to see it. (At least we all got to wave at each other) . It was thrilling and the sound was very impressive!
I posted the below story on Dogs of C-Kennel and I thought some here might enjoy it.
Here’s a rescue story. When our yellow lab died I did NOT want to get another dog. My wife would occasionally bring it up and I would say “No!”. One Sunday afternoon she shows me a picture of a dog located in southern NH at an animal rescue center. We live in northernmost Maine and that makes “everything” a long ways away. Anyway, my wife proceeds to tell me all about this dog, how he is going to be a ‘big’ dog as he is half Great Pyrenees and half Ausie Shepard; and you have to fill out an ‘application’. I’ve filled out applications before and most of them want so much information and complete background checks we don’t have a chance of getting this dog. So, to appease her I say, “Sure, go ahead and fill out the application.”……She does, and twenty minutes later she comes and tells me that we’ve been approved. “Damn!” Now we have to go get this dog. As it turns out we have had Casey for five years next month and he is a wonderful member of the family. He never wears a collar and gets to run in the Maine woods and really has it made…….BUT…..here’s the kicker. Unbeknownst to me, my wife’s cousin that lives way out in Colorado has been a benefactor to this rescue shelter for years. When my wife filled out the application she knew this and she used her cousin as a “reference”. “Of course we were approved!” I was blindsided…the fix was in and I never knew about all this till long after we got Casey. Smart woman.
I enjoy reading you guys’ daily posts. I go back and check what was posted the previous day after I left and saw another *kd1sq * post about Alpha Cat. This is coming to be my major entertainment. I am glad that cat is doing well.
Good poem. I’ve never had much of a problem with bees. I figure, if I don’t bother them, they won’t bother Me. On another note, saw some juncos, a varied thrush, a robin, and a chickadee while out walking today.

Did you know that honey bees make less than 1/2 teas of honey in their lifetime. I try to keep that in mind as I drizzle honey all over my bagel.

My German shepherd was the smartest animal I’ve ever known, but she had a weakness for snapping at bees. A swollen cheek usually followed.
