I hate Westerns. It’s awful to see how pointless women’s lives were back then. (Apparently.) So many prostitutes in these movies. The last Western my parents and I watched, because we were so bored, had dozens of them. Thank heavens they’re barely ever made anyone.
McLintock is one of my favorite movies. Given the choice between that and some of today’s popular fare, give me John Wayne every time. Maureen O’Hara is just a bonus. And a very young Stephanie Powers and Jerry Van Dyke are so much fun.
Caldonia, women in the Old West were far more modern than the women of the 1950’s and 1960’s, in the westerns of the time they owned ranches, stores, post offices. Not all of them were “women of questionable ways”. In the “Modern” television shows of the 1950’s and 1960’s, they were all housewives. Give the Old West some slack.

Been there done that. When Football is involved, it really makes it interesting.
Love John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies and can see them over and over; even lead with the dialog some times.
