I remember so called “strategic planning” meetings at one place I worked. Waste of time. I stopped getting invited though when I started to call them “strategic bombing” meetings.
Much like the MCLE classes lawyers are required to attend. I’m pretty sure a $200 class on the perils of practicing law drunk is enough to make me need a couple of cold ones.
We once had a (this is true) seminar using Winnie the Pooh characters. The program manager was “eeyore”, always worried; the engineers were “owl” the smart ones, the marketeers were “rabbit”, always excited and jumping around, …I don’t remember much about it, but it was a day full of laughs…well, snickers, and we had a nice free lunch. I don’t know how much they paid the guy who ran it. Too much, for sure.

Seminars, meetings, they’re all the same. A waste of time.

Some obviously are just a waste and some might save you thousands in the first day or so, if properly taught and applied.
