Reminds me some of old pictures we have of my late father-in-law. He was in the Army for 22 years, including combat stints in the Pacific and Korea. His chest was full of medals and ribbons.
I once asked a Lt. General ( long after I’d left the service ) if he really knew what each ribbon was for on his dress salad and how did he know they were in the right place?
Fortunately, the guy had a good sense of humor and a couple of scotches under his belt and admitted that he wasn’t sure what half of ‘em were or if they were properly placed on his uniform.
