I once was on a large group camping trip with revolutionary war recreationistst. Someone brought some home made prune wine. 200 people. 3 outhouses. Things were not pretty.

Haha, I love this arc. Everyday I read it, I anticipate the ending again. This is great!

I actually like this strip, though this is not how Calvin is to be protrayed. I agree with you commentors something big must be going to happen. No I don’t stay with the strip when it was first new.

I thought I remembered this arc, but after the third day of this I’m not sure now . . can’t wait to see how it plays out.

I don’t think Mom is dreaming; I think Calvin is having a nightmare! And where is Hobbes in this strip? No sign of him anywhere.

The one wrong note in this whole arc is here: making Good Calvin want prunes. Yeech! He’s good, not a masochist.

I don’t know about the rest of y’all, but I’m going to miss this guy when he’s gone. Seeing him again makes me question our society’s whole philosophy of what we find funny and what we do not.

You guys do remember he dug up the entire front yard, just last friday, right?

I think he’s found there’s more than one way to drive Mom crazy!

What we–or at least I–find funny is the contrast: Calvin-the-good vs. the expected Calvin–and Mom’s question of what is going on, and why?

This buildup eventually leads–unlike some of Calvin’s efforts–to the payoff.

Wasn’t this originally right around the time that Dallas pulled off that “it was all a dream, honey” episode?

Mom is totally psyched out and can’t figure this out. Calvin wants some prunes so he will be totally occupied on the pot and miss the school bus. That way, he won’t have to return the note from Mrs. Wormwood, about his terrible classroom conduct, that Mom never saw or signed because Hobbes ate it. And that is also why Hobbes has been in hiding so far. Mrs Wormwood will surely telephone Mom to spill all of Calvin’s beans.

The REAL Calvin has been abducted by aliens no doubt…

I am betting on an interdimensional cardboard box transporter.

tinhutjohn - if he was an 80 year old geezer, he wouldn’t be out of bed (if he was able at all) until noon. Personally, I think Calvin fell out of that tree he is so fond of climbing and landed on his head. Had no idea his hair looked like that when combed….is Hobbes on vacation in India?

I’ve read these so many times I could virtually quote them by heart. Ah, what great stories! Watterson has definitely left a mark on my life.
