When I was little it seemed like the kids always got sick first and then just when we were feeling better, our parents got sick. haha So poor mom was on her death bed while the three of us were still sick enough to be home from school but well enough to be running around driving her nuts.
My dad, who was a teacher, or I would bring it home from school and then Mom would catch it from us. Dad was pretty good at taking care of me and/or mom when we were sick, but I was useless.
Moms never have time to get sick. Just keep moving!
Wow, fbjsr, I didn’t get the impression that any of the comments implied that the women hated their husbands and your “pretty boy” comments are quite bitter. I married a good man who provides well for us, but he is just not good at nuturing when I am sick. He grew up in a very traditional household so it doesn’t occur to him to take care of the kids either. I’m not resentful of this because he works very hard otherwise. In general, most kids will not take care of their sick parents as well. This is just the way my husband and kids are and that is an observation and not a comment of hate.
Iseem to remember that Maude was played by a different actress on “All In The Family” than Bea Arthur (who played Maude on the show of that name.) Could Be mistaken.
Simple reason you get sick after the kids are getting better, it’s called immunity. Each cold virus we catch, is a different virus from the last one. When you are getting over the cold, your body is building antibodies to fend that specific virus. The next one you get, has mutated…just a little. Which is why you get sick. (When you get the flu shot, it is a dead virus that triggers your antibody response to build antibodies in the hope that when that specific virus does attack you, your immune system (i.e. the antibodies) prevent the virus from building up and becoming a large enough “colony” to overwhelm you system.
Who says you can’t learn anything in the funny pages?
BTW, I’m a retired research nurse with a background in immunology, which, along with HS Biology, is why I een know about this junk.

Was Maude who played by Bea Arthur? All In The Family is so classic show! I adored it and it was so funny way back in 1970’s.

If Maude had brought her daughter Carol (who wan’t even invented yet), she definitely would have gotten Mike up.

Was that episode the one where Maude makes cheese and grits (or something) to help with Archie’s bathroom runs? LOL
