When I lived in a house with a second-floor loft my cat liked to jump down to the ground floor, landing right in front of a surprised guest.

Yet despite the cats’ relatively higher leaping strength, Rose and Jimbo will continue to open doors, use can openers, and do any number of things the cats cannot. Seems a fair trade-off to me.
