Don’t take that to mean that you don’t care about others feelings or that you have a license to be rude, it’s just the realisation that you can’t control how other people feel. Nor should you try.

I think it’s nice that people are not overly concerned with others’ opinions, but I really would prefer that the overweight men I see at Kroger would at least wear t-shirts that cover their ENTIRE belly…
