For some of us who grew up in the 50s and 60s, the TV stations DID sign off for the night. (I think it was midnight) – and would resume about 6am, beginning with an image of a waving flag and The Star Spangled Banner. So……7pm would be a little bit of a fib. That said, it would also mean that Sergio and Aunt Carmen cannot watch TV for the evening as Baldo would hear the TV and know he is not being told the truth. LOL
Although these are more or less humorous, they are not good parenting. I remember how embarrassed I was when I told my friends one of my relatives’ false explanations, and got ridiculed and laughed at. I never really trusted that adult ever again.
Actually, in the late ‘40s and early ’50s (television’s infancy), it wasn’t too terribly off the mark. And there was no cable box atop that skinny set; the thing was almost as big as a breakfront…

My Mom tried this line once. However my bedroom was off the living room and I could see the light off of the tv.

Sergio’s “A” rating in parenting skills is taking a big hit this week. He is losing a grade per day.

I’m sorry, the network cancelled (insert favorite late night show here).
