though I never owned a dog, I never thought of Elizabeth’s thought that way (I think she’s more thinking of Droopy from those Tex Avery cartoons on TV)
Lynn Johnston shared that she got letters from readers saying it is not possible that Farley was still alive when she was in the comics when Mike was 5 years old and was already an adult dog. Mike is now 15 so that makes Farley 16 or older. Lynn realized she needed to age him alongside the Pattersons.
Harrison’s Pond was a small “bog” in front of our friend Doug Harrison’s house. Every spring, when we heard the frogs singing in that pond, we knew the frost was gone and summer was on its way.

Actually it is a lot easier for everyone including the dog if they just drop dead instead of having to go to the vet to be euthanized.

Well, for the record, I think I sort of started slowing down when I was 9 too. I mean I was never exactly “fast”, but I was pretty quick.

I do know what will eventually happen and am bracing myself. What a wonderful strip about life and growing up and old.

Oh, no, no, no! This is it, isn’t it? Someone won’t make it back from the pond, right?

Thank you, Howtheduck! My dog is sick and I was afraid the Farley even you are referring to would transpire this week.

Everybody knows what happens to Farley. The other thing to remember: Lawrence is always the victim.
