While clearly written before the George Floyd murder, clearly, the comments appear to be centered upon it.

Kudos for Scott pointing out just how ridiculous it is to be reopening so swiftly given that we still don’t have the virus under control. BIG PLUS. (Take that, Georgia and Texas)

As for those who erroneously take this as a swipe at the protestors (who didn’t exist at the time this was written), all I can say is this:

Sometimes the intentional death of one, at the hands of others, overshadows the random deaths of hundreds of thousands of others.

This is one of those times.

And for all of you who keep trying to imply that Democrats who have been trying to protect those they are responsible for from a new disease that we still know next to nothing about, calling us fascists and abusers of authority, listen up:

What happened to George Floyd was the real deal. Fascist? Perhaps. Abuse of authority? Definitely!

This is what you get when the police, intentionally or not, come to think of a specific group of people as an enemy that “must be dominated.”

The real fascist is in the White House.

Only his complete incompetence has saved our country from becoming another Russia.

Day 48 of the Georgia Economic Recovery. Freedom rings again in Georgia, and the rest of the country seems to be coming to its senses again.

Great argument by Jason Riley today:

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that 18 people were killed on one Sunday, May 31, “making it the single most violent day in Chicago in six decades.” Over the full weekend, “25 people were killed in the city, with another 85 wounded by gunfire.” None of these deaths or shootings involved police, so there will be no massive protests over them, no tearful commentary on cable news and social media, no white politicians wrapped in Kente cloth taking a knee for photographers.

Sadly, the only thing remarkable about the episode is that it occurred in the middle of a national discussion about policing. The political left, with a great deal of assistance from the mainstream media, has convinced many Americans that George Floyd’s death in police custody is an everyday occurrence for black people in this country, and that racism permeates law enforcement. The reality is that the carnage we witness in Chicago is what’s typical, law enforcement has next to nothing to do with black homicides, and the number of interactions between police and low-income blacks is driven by crime rates, not bias. According to the Sun-Times, there were 492 homicides in Chicago last year, and only three of them involved police.

On a similar theme, Gen Charles Brown delivered the best speech on race since the death of MLK. Excerpts, 1/2:

As the commander of Pacific Air Forces, a senior leader in our Air Force, and an African-American, many of you may be wondering what I’m thinking about the current events surrounding the tragic death of George Floyd. Here’s what I’m thinking about.

I’m thinking about how full I am with emotion, not just for George Floyd, but the many African-Americans that have suffered the same fate as George Floyd. I’m thinking about protests in my country—’tis of thee, sweet land of liberty—the equality expressed in our Declaration of Independence and the Constitution that I’ve sworn my adult life to support and defend.

And thinking about a history of racial issues, and my own experiences that didn’t always sing of liberty and equality. I’m thinking about living in two worlds, each with their own perspective and views. I’m thinking about my sister and I being the only African-Americans in our entire elementary school and trying to fit in. I’m thinking about then going to a high school where roughly half the students were African-American—and trying to fit in.

The U.S. economy ended its longest expansion in history in February and entered recession as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the private economics research group that acts as the arbiter for determining U.S. business cycles said on Monday.

The Business Cycle Dating Committee of the National Bureau of Economic Research said in a statement its members“concluded that the unprecedented magnitude of the decline in employment and production, and its broad reach across the entire economy, warrants the designation of this episode as a recession, even if it turns out to be briefer than earlier contractions.”

Isn’t it always a good idea to believe your own propaganda?

    ~

With their boss growing increasingly agitated with the state of his re-election campaign and with the efforts of Republican critics to undermine it, President Donald Trump’s team hatched a plan.

They’d run a series of hard-hitting ads and place them on networks that they knew the president and congressional Republicans would watch.

And so, over the past month, the Trump campaign has spent slightly more than $400,000 on cable news ads in the Washington, D.C., area, buying time largely on Fox News…

…but with some smaller buys on CNN and MSNBC as well, according to filings with the Federal Communications Commission.

The ads began running in late May and are scheduled through June 23. It is, on a purely electoral level, a remarkably quixotic use of campaign cash.

The purchases have no real shot of moving D.C., Maryland, or Virginia into the Trump column.

But that wasn’t the point. The Trump campaign said the ad buys were an attempt to reinvigorate and reassure the president’s supporters in the nation’s capital.

Dems Reach Out To Blacks With Solemn Performance Of The Cha-Cha Slide

    June 10th, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The world is hurting right now, and everyone knows the only way to heal the wound is for politicians to pander awkwardly to various demographics.

To that end, the Democrats said they wanted to show their blackness by performing the “Cha-Cha Slide,” a popular song among white people wanting to show their blackness.

As the music started playing and horrified reporters looked on, Pelosi introduced the song and dance: “We want black people to know we see them and we understand them — so now, we’re going to get funky! Everybody clap your hands!”

All the Democrats clapped their hands but not a single one clapped on the right beat.

“Slide to the left!” shouted Nancy Pelosi along with the music. “Now slide to the right!” Most of the Democrats refused to go to the right, only going as far left as possible, making some of them run into each other and topple over like elderly, brittle bowling pins.

Democrat leaders ran into further problems when Mr. C The Slide Man told everyone to “go down low” and they had trouble getting back up.

After the song was over, Pelosi began rapping the theme song from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air to everyone’s horror.

McGruff The Crime Dog Put Down

    June 10th, 2020

NEW YORK, NY—In response to a growing anti-police sentiment, McGruff the Crime Dog has been taken to the vet and put down.

“We just didn’t feel safe with him around,” said activist Ray Clarke, one of the people who demanded McGruff be euthanized. “He was always urging people to ‘Take a bite out of crime,’ and we don’t need more violence like that from law enforcement. He has to die.”

McGruff had long educated people on measures they can take against crime but had recently been criticized for not caring about the racial disparity of his bites out of crime and for his association with the police. That’s why euthanizing McGruff became a part of “defunding the police,” even though technically it was a measure that cost more money (the vet charged $150).

Defenders of McGruff argued that McGruff could just be retired and live on a farm working as a P.I. instead of being put down — or that at least they didn’t need to tell McGruff he was a “bad, bad dog” before the injection, but activists wouldn’t relent, and the euthanization happened as planned. A small memorial was erected for McGruff, and it has already been vandalized.

Matt Damon To Star In Pro-Life Thriller ‘The Unbourne Identity’

    June 10th, 2020

HOLLYWOOD, CA—Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne series isn’t finished with him yet. A prequel has been announced featuring Damon reprising his starring role as secret agent Jason Bourne, only this time he’s a fetus. The story follows Jason Bourne before he was born, revealing the backstory behind him being a baby.

Filmmakers say almost the entire movie will take place inside of Bourne’s mother’s womb as the fetus fights for its life against murderous abortion doctors trying to get to him with their tools of torture and death.

Over seven effects houses were hired to deep fake Damon’s face onto the head of an unborn baby. “It took some serious de-aging,” said lead effects coordinator at Beta Digital.

The Unbourne Identity is due this summer.

Congressional Democrats Unable To Get Back Up Saved By Life Alert

    June 9th, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congressional Democrats endured a harrowing experience yesterday as they knelt but were unable to get back up for nearly nine minutes.

Most people thought their nine-minute kneel was intentional, but it appeared they only claimed that to save face, as they had intended on kneeling for just 30 seconds but quickly found they could not get back up.

“Help! I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!” cried Nancy Pelosi after pressing her medical alert button. “Send someone, quick!”

“Is this Nancy again? How many times have we told you running out of vodka and ice cream isn’t an emergency, Nancy?” asked the exasperated operator.

But when she clarified her predicament, rescuers were quickly sent to Capitol Hill, where they were able to find Pelosi and the rest of the elderly Democrats and help them to their feet. The Democrat leaders said they will be canceling congressional meetings for the next 12-18 months while they recover from the incident.

Georgia’s primary was a total sh!tshow, with malfunctioning voting machines, insufficient paper ballots, too-few poll workers, polling places opening late, vote-by-mail ballots that were requested and never received or arrived late, and a loss of 80 polling places in Atlanta.

Either Georgia’s Secretary of State is a flaming nincompoop and imbecile, or there’s some serious voter suppression going on. I’m open to the idea of both being true.

I note that Carmen and Winslow are not “socially distancing” either. As a member of the “vulnerable class” I try to be careful, but I believe that except for the hotspots in the NE, most of the one-size-fits-all lockdown protocols have been ineffective and unjustified.
