Our library forgave all of the fines and was amazed at how many books were returned. The staff realized that many were children’s books that the family could not afford to pay the fine. In the long run it has been a win-win for the children and library. Several in the area have done the same thing and found that it was better to forgive the fines. The returnee does have to pay for damaged or lost however.

Broomie kept it until the library dropped its fines for overdue books.

Was that library even there when Broomie borrowed that?

The library just got rich!
And what about Broomie’s Overdue Book fine? That alone will keep you in business for a while and keep our beloved little green book-hoarder broke!

public library? You mean you didn’t give it someplace where you could have made some money off of it, Broomie?

Sorry this is a day late, but am I the only one that saw that character that fell on its head from the tree in the fifth image in Sunday’s strip?

A first edition, signed by the printer. Worth even more if it was signed by the Author ;-)

I didn’t know Broomy knew Latin, but then again, I guess 1500 years ago English wasn’t the lingua franca.
