I don’t know if heavy growth of wild grape vines portends a good wine year or a bad one, but after 4 years without any grape vines, the floor of our woods is completely covered in young shoots. I need to get after them before they start killing the trees.

I once read a wine review that said it had “notes of damp straw”. Well folks I’ve been in a stable and I know what makes straw damp.

So far 2020 stinks about as badly as anything could. November may add a whiff of honey.
