@Number Three Today’s strip IS funny our Hero Mr Andrew Capp has to listen to the boring ramblings of the bloke in the blue suit just because he bought Andy a pint ,I have met blokes like that myself but I just grin and bear it :o) my avatar is a picture of a Doberman behind a gate daring people to enter and find out if there is Hell after death , we had a doberman girl dog named Brunhilda ( from a German opera) and she was the friendliest dog we ever had, the worst you could get is being kissed to death , there are no bad dogs , just bad owners , how was your day ? our Manic Monday should be very busy as usual but will calm down I hope , stay safe and BCNU pal
Not quite true, he is equating the train known as the Flying Scotsman, which was officially renamed from the Scotch Express to the Flying Scotsman in 1924, to the Class A3 locomotive that was named after that train.
Also in the Great Western Railways locomotive Castle class number 4079 Pendennis Castle was sent to conduct trials with the Eastern locomotive class and was proven to be quicker and more powerful than those plus Pendennis Castle was also shown to be more economical in both coal and water! So the bloke in the blue hat is wrong!
Know people in the Mass Bay Railroad Enthusiasts who can look at locomotive and tell you its history from memory. I find their knowledge fascinating. I joined because I just like trains, watching them and riding on them.
Train buffs as you can see from even the few comments here are a special breed. They have their own language, somewhat related to English, and can go on for hours.

I can see that this discussion on trains could get super-heated.

If Murray lived around here I’d buy him a pint and let him tell me about it…

He would be bored even if it was a discussion on improved brewing techniques. “Shut up and drink!” is Andy’s motto.

I thought it was Chalkie who was bad at trivia.

My wife and I took the Flying Scotsman (train) once in 1998, on a UK visit that entailed business in both London and Edinburgh.

I once took a train trip to Van Couver. It was quite interesting. Wouldn’t mind going on another train trip.
