The Elderberries by Corey Pandolph and Phil Frank and Joe Troise for April 22, 2021
Transcript:
Dusty: So...you're not lettin' me off Elderpark probation? Miss Overdunne: Mr. Winters...your list of violations is enormous! Dusty: Can I just have my sharp whittlin' knife? A cowboy needs to whittle! Miss Overdunne: I've thought of that...consider it a conciliatory gesture...an "approved" knife. Dusty: This is a butter knife! Miss Overdunne: With two sticks of frozen butter. You'd best get to it, Mr. Winters.

A butter knife can be sharpened to a fine edge.

She’s a mean one. There’s nothing wrong with him having a pocket knife to whittle with. He’s NOT five years old. And whittling frozen butter? What a nasty joke!

This is really disturbingly nasty. I seem to remember it being better in the later strips. If not, I’m OUTTA here ‘cuz, although like Dusty I’m definitely a senior, unlike Dusty I have definitely not been consigned to a bloody gulag.
