Kate: Daddy... you need to make Danae stop making bogus Tweets. Joe: Why? Isn't that what people do on Twitter? Kate: No! Tweets are real, firsthand accounts by real people, so they must be true! It's become the new standard of journalism... her bogus Tweets could undermine the integrity of Tweeting and bring about its untimely demise. Joe: Keep up the good work...

Speaking of twits and tweets, Jon Kyl is a secretly practicing late term abortionist. (This was not intended to be a factual statement.)

I suppose the gag needed a foil, but I thought more highly of Kate than that.

if you’d been following Danae on Twitter, you’d already know the answer to your question ; )

No wonder journalism is at an all-time low.

Hah! I’ve heard that the new category is “factual journalism”–apparently to distinguish it from non-factual journalism…

I agree with Dad. And integrity in journalism was lost a long time ago.

plus4 said, ”And anything said by a scientist must be true.”
You didn’t get it quite right. Here’s Clarke’s First Law:
”When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right; when he states that something is impossible, he is probably wrong.”
F.Y.I, here are the second and third:
”The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible.”
”Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”

Twitter (or any social network or blog) and “integrity” are like oil and water.

As my mother said (RIP), “You don’t have a pulpit!!” (And the preacher does.) I wish I had of mentioned the thousands of times she practiced medicine without a license on we seven kids.

Regarding the following: —————————————– wmbrainiac said, about 18 hours ago Speaking of twits and tweets, Jon Kyl is a secretly practicing late term abortionist. (This was not intended to be a factual statement.) —————————————– why are you guys so interested/concerned with people’s private views on abortion? Here in Australia, as an informed, interested, politically aware voter, I would have NO IDEA of what our Prime Minister, state premier, police chief etc (ie ANYONE) thinks of this issue. Thank goodness! Maybe that’s why our economy’s flourishing, not floundering like others’. Our legislators spend time on issues that affect the running of the country and aren’t bogged down worrying about the private views of citizens and trying to stop some looney “Right to life” person from shooting someone (gotta love the irony of THAT!

I’ve never seen a tweet, don’t know where a person receives it but I guess it is similar to an IM. Overed them years ago. You can really mess up even thinking before you speak, never mind the alternative.
