As I mentioned on the Baldo español page, I hate fat jokes in any language.
One: Dear old dad is already very, very skinny – and he considers himself at least 15 pounds overweight? Then, weighs himself and decides he’s now 23 pounds overweight?
The dude is absolutely SKINNY! This is nothing more than unabashed FAT-SHAMING and encouragement of eating disorders!
And if kids are reading this strip, this is EXACTLY what kids, teenage girls the most, need the least!
America’s evil obsession with the notion that there is no such thing as “thin enough”!
Since we have been stuck in the house I lost 15 pounds. Husband’s jeans started falling off and I had to take them in (2 pairs so far) 2 inches.
The commander of our 18th c reenacting unit has done our first 2 events of the year on his own as virtual events. Our big event of the year is in mid to late July. He wants additional members to come to the event so we can do some of the normal things done. Husband is always the one who reads the Declaration of Independence to the crowd and he does a great job of doing so as if he was reading it for the first time. (Event is the anniversary of when the D of I arrived in the community and was read aloud on the village green to the populace – we have the records of what happened to follow.) He really wants to do so – but we are high risk so we will have to see. (We live in what was until recently, the highest count of C-19 township in the 3rd highest count county in NYS – the highest count state in the country. Our county alone until the recent increases elsewhere had more cases than 48 states and some countries. The event is in the next county, but they have not had that many fewer cases than our county has had.) I mention this as due to needing to take in his jeans so they don’t fall off, I suggested he try on his reenacting clothing – his breeches also fell off. But he had an older pair (we have been doing this since the 1990s) that could fit. I then tried on my stays to make sure they would “stay” in place. I think they will not slide off of me.
Maybe he will let us let us eat a bit more in the next few weeks – just in case. We have cut our food consumption by about 1/3 since stuck in to conserve the food we have in the house and stretch it so we don’t have to go out and to buy more.
