I have three Hummingbirds who think the feeder belongs to them. They chase each other away. They each get a chance when the other two are occupied tho and one of them likes to come down and hover in front of my face. I know I’m sweet, but….

National Kouign Amann Day. National Kouign Amann Day on June 20th each year celebrates a round crusty cake, made with a yeast-raised dough. Bakers create the cake by folding layers of butter and sugar inward, similar in fashion to a puff pastry or croissants but with fewer layers. They then slowly bake the resulting cake until the butter puffs up the dough creating the layered aspect of it and the sugar caramelizes. Kouign amann is pronounced kween ah-mon.

And International Nystagmus Day. International Nystagmus Awareness Day on June 20th brings attention to a condition that can cause severe vision problems among other concerns. The day aims to bring tools, resources, and opportunities for education to the forefront.

Depending on the type of nystagmus, treatments, and symptoms vary. Approximately 1 in 1000 babies are born with nystagmus, but adults are affected by it, too.

Nystagmus presents as drifting or wobbly eyes with two basic types of nystagmus: Jerk nystagmus – As the name suggests, the eyes jerk quickly in one direction and are then followed by slow movements in the opposite direction. Pendular nystagmus – The eyes move with equal speed in either direction.

I’ve seen tuna casserole explode once, but only when microwaved without being covered. I’ll never make that mistake again :-)

Very funny, Chesney, but you can’t please everyone. (You’re certainly not pleasing anyone by dissing Annie.) On another note, saw a raven, some juncos, a robin, a rabbit, and a finch while out walking today.

Tonight I have a mama raccoon and four babies cleaning out my bird feeders. I did put out a sweet potato skin for them before dark, and apparently they liked it very much.
