No Calvin, that question was not âhypotheticalâ at all. (I like better the strip was Hobbes dissuades Calvin from throwing a water balloon just by saying âAs if life isnât short enough alreadyâ. Only dialogue in that whole Sunday strip.)
If I remember there was one similar to this ( that Iâve been looking for for years ) They were playing Calvinball and asked about doing something and if you did, it wouldnât turnout very well.

Oof, way to take the fun out of it, Hobbes.
Templo S.U.D. over 4 years ago
How would one explain Calvinâs murder if there were no mysterious strangers nor witnesses?
codycab over 4 years ago
Hobbes tells Calvin off better than his parents.
SHIVA over 4 years ago
Dousing either of his parents with that balloon would be much more exciting!!
jagedlo over 4 years ago
The other question Hobbes should have asked was âDo you feel lucky, punk? Well do you?â

Gosh! What a wonderfully perspective little boy. /s

Iâm trying to figure out panel nine. Does Calvin have a second set of eyes? His head doesnât seem to be in motion.
Bilan over 4 years ago
Donât worry about Hobbes, heâs actually very soft inside.

Calvinâs always hyperthetical. Hypo- not so much, though.
admiree2 over 4 years ago
Next to last panel we see Calvin asking himself the question that we ask ourselves at various times of our lives: Is it worth it?
jimchronister2016 over 4 years ago
Morning Bill, thanks for this toon. What a great mind you have to create characters like Calvin and Hobbes, so human itâs scary!
Troglodyte over 4 years ago
Depend on Hobbes to burst Calvinâs bubbleâŠso to say. :D
bluram over 4 years ago
Hobbes sure has a way to squelch the little imps fun doesnât he?
jpayne4040 over 4 years ago
Way to go, Hobbes! Thatâs how you handle a brat!
uniquename over 4 years ago
Hobbes should have just popped the balloon with one of his claws.

A touch of wisdom at the right time can make all the difference.
joegeethree over 4 years ago
Hobbes hardly ever gets philosophical.
rshive over 4 years ago
Hypothetically (of course) there will be horrible consequences for Calvin no matter who he throws the balloon at.

Last day on Earth? It would probably involve beer, corn dogs, tater tots, and a pile of comic books. Much like any Sunday.
Whatcouldgowrong over 4 years ago
If called by a panther, donât anther. But if your tiger gives you good advice, pay attention.

What if there were no hypothetical questions?
mistercatworks over 4 years ago
It must be handy to have an external conscience. Jiminy Cricket might not be as useful as a large tiger.
SweetSinger over 4 years ago
Good advice for bullies everywhere. Thanks, Hobbes.
