Thinking about what to write about how I spent the summer vacation.

As a late-to-the-job middle school teacher [I was 33] I avoided that kind of essay like CV-19. The first ones I read were so boring 6’ of separation wasn’t enough. When I changed it to the summer vacation you wished you had enjoyed, the fiction became so much more interesting. Children’s minds are like their spirits, amazing when allowed to run free.

We were called to talk to the teacher about something one of sons wrote on that kind of essay. Among other things he wrote about the time we flew to McDonald’s for lunch.

The teacher told us that she asked them to write about something they actually did.

We burst her bubble when we told her that we frequently rented an airplane and flew to an small airport that had a McDonald’s on the other side of the fence from where you tied down the airplanes.

That’s probably one assignment that won’t happen, unless they ask for what did you wish you did this summer.
