We have a very loud kitchen timer (garage sale vintage). I jump out of my skin about 50% of the time, even when I’m the one who set it!

Startle reactions are, it turns out, not mediated by mental processes. Which is evolutionarily a good thing.

Sure burned that hair alright.

Though I might have had Sue coming up to Phoebe all straight forward and saying high cause she would find normal/calm Sue to be scary:-).

So like mine, Phoebe’s hair has a mind of its own. Good to know.

So many mean kids in Phoebe’s life!

If you’re going to startle people, make sure you know your victim. Startling a Soldier, Marine, etc just back from Afghanistan with hair trigger reflexes would likely make for a painful lesson. When we came back from Vietnam we were not safe to play with for several months. When I come up behind what appears to be a young veteran today I always cough, clear my throat or say “excuse me” when still far enough away to avoid a reflex reaction. Not their fault. The government does a lousy job of “relaxing” combat troops.

Sue the Rocker? Sue the Punk? Besides Phoebe’s hair, who is she winding up this time?

I don’t really like the new ‘do. Any thoughts?

It’s nice to see Sue again, its been a few years. But the fact that sue was able to scare Phoebe’s hair out of a ponytail is….impressive.
